An open heart before God
In this psalm, David recognizes that God knows him completely. His prayer invites us to open our hearts to God’s examination, allowing Him to reveal what needs correction and entrusting our entire lives to Him.
We can approach our Father with that same honesty through Jesus Christ. We can bring Him our worries, motives, and struggles, asking Him to help us recognize what we may overlook in ourselves. Trusting His love gives us courage to receive His correction and follow His guidance.
Spend a few quiet moments before God. Tell Him what worries you and ask Him to show you an attitude or intention that needs to change. Ask God, in the name of His Son Jesus, to remove from your heart everything that does not come from the fruit of the Holy Spirit, renew your strength, and fill you with His Holy Spirit.
Abba Father, examine my heart and help me receive Your truth with humility. I bring You my anxieties and the motives I do not always understand. You are God. Thank You for choosing me and rescuing me through Your Son Jesus. Remove from my heart everything that does not come from the fruit of Your Holy Spirit. Renew my strength and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Correct what needs to change, teach me to entrust my worries to You, and guide me in Your ways. I ask this in the name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
