The wise men from the East
The story of the wise men from the East teaches us how to respond to an encounter with Jesus: with worship, joy, and surrender. Guided by the star, these men not only found the promised King but also recognized Him as worthy of adoration…
Verse of the day: “When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:10-11 (NKJV))
The story of the wise men from the East teaches us how to respond to an encounter with Jesus: with worship, joy, and surrender. Guided by the star, these men not only found the promised King but also recognized Him as worthy of adoration, offering gifts that reflect His identity and purpose. Gold symbolizes His kingship, frankincense His divinity, and myrrh foretells His sacrifice. These gifts invite us to reflect on what we offer to Jesus today. It’s not about material treasures but about surrendering our hearts, faith, and obedience to Him.
Just as the wise men were filled with “exceedingly great joy” when they found Jesus, we too can experience that same joy when we seek His presence. During this season of celebration, let us ask God to guide us like the star, so that our lives may always point toward Christ, our King and Savior.
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the joy of finding and worshiping You. Help us to come to You with humble and surrendered hearts, offering our lives as gifts of gratitude. Guide us always toward Your light, and like the wise men, may we recognize You as our King and Savior. Amen.
“With hope and joy in Him, Along the Way with Him”
