The apostle Paul expresses his complete surrender to Christ in this verse. His life had a clear purpose: to glorify Jesus in everything he did. While death meant gain—being in the eternal presence of the Lord—his mission while alive was to reflect Christ and fulfill His will.
Living for Christ means that every aspect of our life—our thoughts, actions, and words—should align with His purpose. It is recognizing that our true satisfaction and fulfillment are found in Him. And when life ends, we have the hope of eternity with Jesus, which is the greatest gain.
