The Lord Delivers the Righteous

This verse reminds us of a deep truth: being righteous does not exempt us from suffering, but it assures us of a powerful promise: God is with us in every trial, and He is faithful to deliver us.

“The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.”(Psalm 34:19, NIV)

This verse reminds us of a deep truth: being righteous does not exempt us from suffering, but it assures us of a powerful promise: God is with us in every trial, and He is faithful to deliver us.

David wrote this psalm after escaping a dangerous situation. He realized that righteousness is not about living without hardship, but about trusting God through every struggle. The righteous may face many troubles, but they are never alone—the Lord fights for them, sustains them, and rescues them. Jesus Himself, the Righteous One, was “a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief” (Isaiah 53:3). Yet He was also exalted, raised, and glorified. In Him, our afflictions have purpose, and victory is already won.

Are you going through a time of trouble? Do you trust that the Lord is with you and will deliver you according to His faithfulness?

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for giving me Your beloved only Son, Jesus, for my salvation. Give me discernment to trust in You even in the midst of affliction, knowing You are faithful to deliver me. I lift this prayer with thanksgiving and ask for Your help to endure with hope and faith. In the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
