Serving Christ in the Needy
In this passage, Jesus reveals that the true fruit of living faith is shown in love for others. But it’s important to remember that these actions are not the cause of salvation, but the evidence of it (Ephesians 2:8–10).
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:35–36, NIV)
In this passage, Jesus reveals that the true fruit of living faith is shown in love for others. But it’s important to remember that these actions are not the cause of salvation, but the evidence of it (Ephesians 2:8–10).
Those who have been transformed by God’s grace reflect that change by serving others with compassion. In doing so, they are serving Christ Himself. He personally identifies with the needy, showing that love for God and love for neighbor are inseparably linked (Matthew 22:37–40).
This is not a call to external morality, but to a Spirit-renewed life that, in gratitude for the salvation received, lives to glorify God through every act of love.

Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for giving me Your beloved only Son, Jesus, for my salvation. Thank You for saving me by grace, not by works. Help me to see Christ in every person in need, and to serve with compassion—not to earn Your favor, but as the fruit of Your love in me. I lift this prayer with thanksgiving.
