The Call to Follow Christ
“Then He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.’”…
Verse of the Day (NKJV):
“Then He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.’” Luke 9:23–24
Jesus doesn’t offer a comfortable path, but one of surrender and transformation. Following Him means denying ourselves—laying down our desires, plans, and pride to embrace His will. Taking up the cross daily reminds us that we have been crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20), and we no longer live for ourselves but for Him.
This message radically contrasts the wisdom of the world: whoever tries to save his life on his own will lose it, but whoever gives it up for Christ will find it. This is the glorious mystery of discipleship—dying to self means truly living in Him.
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to follow You with all my heart. Help me deny myself, take up my cross daily, and follow You faithfully. I do not want to cling to my life, but surrender it to You, knowing that true life is found in You. Abba Father, we present this prayer in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
