Santiago the Just confronts us with a deep and direct truth: sin is not only doing what is wrong, but also failing to do the good we know we ought to do. The Christian faith is not passive; it calls us to act with love, justice, truth, and mercy.

When the Holy Spirit prompts us to act — to forgive, to help, to defend, to comfort — and we ignore His voice, we harden our hearts and resist His work in us. God desires obedience, not only in what we avoid, but also in how we engage in doing good.

Spiritual maturity means being responsible with the truth we’ve already received. We are not alone — God equips us, and His Word instructs us (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Lord, I confess that many times I’ve remained silent when I should have spoken, and stood still when I should have acted. Forgive me for failing to do the good You have placed before me. Strengthen me to live with integrity and respond quickly and courageously to Your will. Abba Father, we bring this prayer in the Name of Your beloved Son, Jesus. Amen.
