Verse of the Day: “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” Psalm 68:5 (NIV)

This verse reveals the compassionate and just character of our God. He is not indifferent to pain or abandonment; on the contrary, He presents Himself as a Father to those who have no one to defend them and as a protector for those in need. God’s justice is not an abstract concept, but a living reality that is manifested in His care for the most vulnerable.

Jesus, the perfect reflection of the Father, lived out this truth in His ministry. He drew near to the marginalized, healed the sick, defended the poor, and showed mercy to the forgotten of society (Matthew 11:4-5). In Him we see the heart of the Father fulfilled — one who embraces, restores, and gives dignity to every life.

As we follow Christ, we are called to reflect that same love and compassion. The apostle James reminds us that pure and undefiled religion consists in looking after orphans and widows in their distress (James 1:27). By caring for those in need, we share in the work of Christ and show the world that His grace transforms lives.

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You because in Christ Jesus You reveal to me Your compassionate and just love. Teach me to reflect Your heart in my dealings with others, especially those who suffer and lack support. Give me a sensitive and generous spirit to be an instrument of Your love in this world. Abba Father, I present this prayer in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
