This passage is part of the vision of the valley of dry bones, where God shows Ezekiel that what is dead can be brought back to life by the power of His Spirit. It is a powerful picture of restoration and hope: what seems lost, dry, or without purpose can be renewed by God’s action.
In Christ, this promise finds its fulfillment. Jesus declared, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die” (John 11:25). Just as the Lord breathed life into those dry bones, through Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit, we are given new life, lifted out of spiritual death, and filled with abundant life.
Ezekiel’s vision reminds us that no situation is too broken for God to transform. Where there is dryness, God sends His Spirit; where there is death, He gives life; where there is hopelessness, He brings redemption. In Christ Jesus, we are made new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17), and in Him we find the breath that sustains our very being.
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You because in Christ Jesus You gave me life when I was lost and without hope. I ask You to renew Your Spirit in me, to breathe life into the dry areas of my heart, and to sustain me with Your power. Help me live in the fullness of Your grace and in the eternal hope found only in Your beloved Son. I present this prayer in the Name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
