Witnesses with the Power of the Holy Spirit

This verse marks one of the most significant declarations of Jesus before ascending into heaven. He did not leave His disciples alone or unprepared; instead, He promised them the power of the Holy Spirit to fulfill the mission He entrusted them with: to be His witnesses. The work of the gospel does not depend on human strength but on the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit working in the children of God.

The promise of Jesus is not limited to the first disciples. Today, every believer receives the Holy Spirit when they accept Christ as Lord and Savior. It is the Spirit who enables us to live in holiness, to bear witness to the love of Jesus, and to proclaim the gospel wherever we are. As the Lord Himself said: “You will receive power,” and that power is not for self-exaltation but to glorify Christ and expand His Kingdom.

Being witnesses means not only speaking about Christ but also living in alignment with His message. In Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth, this calling reminds us that we must begin in our closest circles and move outward with courage, trusting that He is with us to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:20↗).
