Verse of the Day: “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” 1 Peter 2:24 KJV
The apostle Peter reminds us of the very heart of redemption: Jesus took upon Himself what we deserved. On the cross, the perfect Lamb carried our sins—completely and personally. His sacrifice not only freed us from condemnation but also gave us a new way of living: to live for righteousness, separated from sin and guided by His Spirit (Isaiah 53:5–6).
The wooden cross became the altar of God’s eternal love. There, Jesus turned guilt into forgiveness and wounds into healing. This healing is complete—spiritual, emotional, and, when He wills, even physical. His wounds were the price of our restoration. In every lash and every drop of blood, the power of His grace was sealed to make us free (Colossians 1:20–22).
To “live unto righteousness” is to respond to that grace with obedience. We no longer live as slaves to sin, for Christ has broken its chains. Now we walk in freedom—not to please ourselves but to reflect His character. The cross not only saved us from punishment; it ushered us into a new life where the love of Christ reigns within (Romans 6:11–13).
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son, who bore my sins on the cross. Thank You because His wounds gave me life and restored me. Teach me to live daily in righteousness, remembering the price of Your love. May my life testify to the healing and freedom that only Christ can give. I pray in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
