Your plans in God’s hands
We often begin the day thinking about what we need to accomplish. We make plans, organize responsibilities, and hope that our efforts will bear fruit. This verse invites us to place all that work in the Lord’s hands, depending on His wisdom as we move forward.
Place all your work in the Lord’s hands, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3 English rendering based on NVI
We often begin the day thinking about what we need to accomplish. We make plans, organize responsibilities, and hope that our efforts will bear fruit. This verse invites us to place all that work in the Lord’s hands, depending on His wisdom as we move forward.
To entrust our work to God means more than asking Him to approve what we have already decided. It means bringing Him our intentions, our methods, and our expectations, with a willingness to receive His correction. We ask whether what we are pursuing honors Him and whether the way we pursue it reflects His love and truth.
This proverb teaches us to depend on God. Read within the wisdom of Proverbs, it does not promise that every personal ambition will unfold exactly as we imagine. We make plans, but the Lord directs our steps. He may strengthen a purpose, reshape it, or lead us along a different path. His wisdom is greater than our ability to foresee the outcome.
Through Jesus, we can approach our Father with confidence and surrender our work to Him. We still need to prepare, act responsibly, and persevere. Yet we can do so with peace, trusting Him with the results and remaining willing to follow His direction.
Pause and reflect
Choose one project or responsibility that occupies your thoughts today. Present it specifically to God: explain what you hope to accomplish, examine your motives, and ask Him to guide both your decisions and your actions. Ask God, in the name of His Son Jesus, to remove from your heart everything that does not come from the fruit of the Holy Spirit, to renew your strength, and to fill you with His Holy Spirit. Then take one responsible step toward that task, with a willingness to accept correction and entrust the outcome to Him.
Today’s prayer
Abba Father, I place my work, my responsibilities, and my plans in Your hands. You know what I hope to accomplish and the uncertainties that sometimes fill me with worry. Help me seek Your wisdom in every decision. You are God. Thank You for choosing me and rescuing me through Your Son Jesus. Teach me to make plans that honor You and to carry them out with honesty, diligence, and love. Correct my motives and guide my steps. Remove from my heart everything that does not come from the fruit of Your Holy Spirit. Renew my strength and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Give me humility to receive Your direction, courage to act faithfully, and patience to trust Your timing. May the work of my hands serve Your purposes. Help me remain faithful when my plans change and rest in Your care as I entrust the results to You. I ask this in the name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
