The Word that examines our hearts
The writer of Hebrews calls us to listen to God and respond with faith. His Word reaches deep within us, revealing thoughts and intentions that we may overlook or prefer to hide. Before Him, we can open our hearts honestly and receive His correction.
Indeed, the word of God is living, effective, and sharper than any double-edged sword. It penetrates to the deepest parts of soul and spirit, to the marrow of the bones, and judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 English rendering based on NVI
The writer of Hebrews calls us to listen to God and respond with faith. His Word reaches deep within us, revealing thoughts and intentions that we may overlook or prefer to hide. Before Him, we can open our hearts honestly and receive His correction.
As we read Scripture, God challenges our excuses, guides our decisions, and shows us where we need to change. Through Jesus Christ, we can approach our Father with confidence, seeking forgiveness and grace to put His truth into practice.
Pause and reflect
Read a short passage of Scripture slowly. Ask what it reveals about your attitudes and choose one concrete change to make today. Ask God, in the name of His Son Jesus, to remove from your heart everything that does not come from the fruit of the Holy Spirit, renew your strength, and fill you with His Holy Spirit.
Today’s prayer
Abba Father, let Your Word examine my thoughts and intentions. Give me humility to recognize what needs to change. You are God. Thank You for choosing me and rescuing me through Your Son Jesus. Remove from my heart everything that does not come from the fruit of Your Holy Spirit. Renew my strength and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Help me receive Your correction, obey Your truth, and entrust my entire life to You. I ask this in the name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
