The Cry of Rejected Love
These words from Jesus are a powerful expression of sorrow and love intertwined. They are not merely a cry of judgment—they are the grief of a rejected love. He longed to gather, protect, and guide His people—but they were unwilling.
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.” (Matthew 23:37, NIV).
These words from Jesus are a powerful expression of sorrow and love intertwined. They are not merely a cry of judgment—they are the grief of a rejected love. He longed to gather, protect, and guide His people—but they were unwilling.
In His life, Jesus sought, called, healed, taught, and forgave. His heart burned with the desire to save His own. And yet, Jerusalem—a symbol of hardened hearts—closed itself to His grace.
Today, Jesus still calls. His love does not force, but it pursues. He longs to shelter us under His wings like a loving mother… but we must respond with faith and surrender.

Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for giving me Your beloved only Son, Jesus, for my salvation. Give me discernment not to resist His love, but to run into the shelter of His wings. I lift this prayer with thanksgiving and ask for Your help to fully surrender to Your grace.
