Your King Comes to You in Humility
This verse, a direct fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9, announces Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. But He does not come as an earthly king with military force—He comes as the King of peace, humble and approachable.
“Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’” (Matthew 21:5, NIV)
This verse, a direct fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9, announces Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. But He does not come as an earthly king with military force—He comes as the King of peace, humble and approachable.
Jesus, the Son of God, chose to ride a donkey, not a warhorse. His kingdom is not of this world: He does not conquer by force, but saves with meekness. His humility reveals the heart of God and invites us to receive Him with faith, hope, and surrender. We often expect a Savior who meets our preferences, but Jesus comes differently: in humility, yet with eternal authority. He is the King who comes to you—not to impose, but to transform your life from the inside out.
Are you recognizing Jesus as the humble King who comes to you? Are you receiving His peace and surrendering your life with reverence and faith?
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for giving me Your beloved only Son, Jesus, for my salvation. Give me discernment to recognize my King when He comes in humility, and a heart willing to receive Him with faith. I lift this prayer with thanksgiving and ask for Your help to live under His lordship.
In the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
