“Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.”(Matthew 21:43, NIV)
Jesus spoke these words at the end of the parable of the wicked tenants, during a tense encounter with Israel’s religious leaders. Through the story, He revealed how, throughout history, God had sent prophets and ultimately His Son but the people rejected them.
This verse is sobering: the Kingdom would be taken from those who bore no fruit, and entrusted to those who would. It wasn’t an arbitrary punishment it was a righteous consequence. God seeks obedient hearts, transformed lives, and the fruit of His Kingdom.
Jesus taught that a tree is known by its fruit (Matthew 7:17). It’s not enough to appear religious or cling to spiritual heritage God desires fruit that reflects His heart: justice, humility, faith, compassion, and truth.
Today, the call remains. We are not heirs of the Kingdom by title or tradition, but by how we respond to Jesus and what His Spirit produces in us.

Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for giving me Your beloved only Son, Jesus, for my salvation. Give me discernment to live a life that produces fruit that honors You, and never to reject Your Word or Your will. I lift this prayer with thanksgiving and ask for Your help to bear abundant fruit for Your Kingdom.
