“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”(John 6:51, NIV)

Jesus spoke these words after feeding the multitudes with loaves and fish. Many followed Him not out of faith, but for what they could receive. In response, Jesus revealed a deeper truth: He Himself is the true bread that satisfies the hunger of the soul.

This “living bread” is not a mere symbol—it is a complete offering. When Jesus says He will give His flesh, He is pointing to the cross, where He would offer His body for the life of the world.

Just as manna sustained the Israelites in the wilderness, Jesus is the spiritual nourishment that brings eternal life to all who believe in Him. It’s not just about intellectual belief—it’s about feeding on Him daily through His Word, His presence, and His grace.

Are you seeking Jesus for what He can give you or for who He truly is? Are you feeding daily on His Word and His presence?

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for giving me Your beloved only Son, Jesus, for my salvation. Give me discernment to seek Christ as the true bread of life, not just as a solution to my needs. I lift this prayer with thanksgiving and ask for Your help to be nourished daily by Your presence and truth.

In the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
