The Comfort of Those Who Mourn

This verse is not merely about grieving life’s hardships, but about those who mourn over their sin, their spiritual need, and their distance from God.
Jesus declares blessed those who mourn with a repentant heart, for such sorrow leads to forgiveness and restoration. This is the grief that comes from a contrite spirit, one that God does not despise (Psalm 51:17).
True comfort does not come from the world but from the presence of God, who is the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3–4). Christ Himself promised the Holy Spirit—the Comforter—to guide and sustain us (John 14:26). His comfort reaches even our deepest wounds and assures us that one day, He will wipe every tear from our eyes (Revelation 21:4).
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Lord, thank You for seeing the brokenhearted and drawing near to them. Thank You for never rejecting those who come to You in sorrow. Comfort me with Your Holy Spirit, and restore the joy of Your salvation in me. In the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
