The Power of Christlike Forgiveness
The Christian life is not free of conflict, but it is deeply defined by forgiveness. In this verse, the apostle Paul calls us to actively bear with one another and forgive, not as a personal virtue, but as a response to Christ’s example.
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3:13 NIV
The Christian life is not free of conflict, but it is deeply defined by forgiveness. In this verse, the apostle Paul calls us to actively bear with one another and forgive, not as a personal virtue, but as a response to Christ’s example.
Forgiving does not mean ignoring the offense, but choosing not to hold onto it. Christ forgave us unconditionally, even while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8), and He calls us to mirror that forgiveness: generous, undeserved, and full of grace.
When we forgive like Christ, we not only release others—we free our own hearts to be ruled by God’s peace and love (Colossians 3:14–15).
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your undeserved forgiveness. Help me forgive as You forgave me—freely, compassionately, and humbly. Fill me with Your grace so I may bear with and love others as You do. Abba Father, we offer this prayer in the name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
