Verse of the Day (NIV): “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ (NIV)

The apostle Peter reminds us that God’s timing is not like ours. When it seems like His promises are delayed, our hearts may grow impatient. But what appears as delay is actually mercy. God does not forget—He acts in love, extending His grace so that many more might repent and receive eternal life through Christ Jesus.

God desires no one to be lost. His heart is bent toward redemption. The Lord’s patience is an act of compassion, a wide-open door for more people to hear the Gospel and return to Him in faith and humility (Ezekiel 18:23; John 3:16–17).

This verse is also an exhortation for believers. We should not live carelessly, assuming there’s plenty of time. On the contrary, we are called to proclaim the Gospel urgently and faithfully, knowing that each day is an opportunity for others to meet Jesus.

Our God is faithful to His Word. His promises will be fulfilled, and the Day of the Lord will come. Meanwhile, we trust His character—righteous, patient, and full of love.

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your patience and immeasurable love. Forgive me when I grow impatient or doubt. Help me live by faith, proclaiming Your truth with boldness as I wait for Your promises to come to pass. Abba Father, we offer this prayer in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
