Love Proven on the Cross

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:8‬(NIV)

This verse is a glorious declaration of God’s love. He didn’t wait for us to be worthy, holy, or deserving. His love is not dependent on our works or moral condition. Christ died for us while we were still sinners, when we weren’t even seeking Him (Ephesians 2:4-5).

The cross is the supreme evidence of that unconditional love. There, the Son of God took our place, bore our sins, and paid the price we could never pay. He did it not out of obligation, but out of love.

This love calls us to respond—not with guilt—but with gratitude, obedience, and surrender. Being loved in this way, we no longer live for ourselves but for the One who died and rose again for us (2 Corinthians 5:15).

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Father, thank You for loving me even when I didn’t deserve it. Thank You for sending Your Son to die in my place. Teach me to live in gratitude, to walk in obedience, and to reflect that love to others. Abba Father, we offer this prayer in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
