The Love that Gives Itself
True love is not defined by empty words or fleeting emotions but by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. In Him, we know the essence of love: a voluntary, perfect, and eternal act in which He gave His life to rescue us from sin…
Verse of the Day: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” 1 John 3:16 NIV
True love is not defined by empty words or fleeting emotions but by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. In Him, we know the essence of love: a voluntary, perfect, and eternal act in which He gave His life to rescue us from sin (Romans 5:8).
This verse also reminds us that Christian love is practical and visible. Just as Christ gave Himself for us, we are called to live in service and sacrifice for others, showing compassion and generosity in daily life (John 13:34). Loving as Jesus loved does not always mean literally giving up our lives, but it does mean dying to selfishness, pride, and indifference. When we serve, share, and sincerely care for others, we reflect God’s love dwelling in us (Philippians 2:4).
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for showing me true love in Jesus Christ, who gave His life for me. Help me to live reflecting that love, serving with humility, and giving myself for the good of my brothers and sisters. May every action of my life be a testimony of Your grace. I pray in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
