Saved by Grace

Verse of the Day: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8–9 NIV

The apostle Paul reminds us here of the most glorious truth of the gospel: salvation is an undeserved gift. It does not come from human effort or moral perfection but from God’s love and mercy. By grace we have been rescued from the power of sin and received, through faith, new life in Christ Jesus (Titus 3:5–7).

God’s grace not only forgives but transforms. It lifts us from spiritual death and gives us a new identity as children adopted by the Father. No one can claim any credit, for everything comes from Him. Our faith is not the cause of salvation but the channel through which we receive this eternal gift—and that channel has a name: Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:2). He opens the way for us to believe, sustains our faith, and brings it to completion.

This gift frees us from pride and leads us into a life of gratitude and humility. Those who truly understand grace stop trying to earn God’s favor and start living to honor Him. Obedience is no longer a burden but a joyful response of love to the One who saved us undeservingly (2 Corinthians 5:17–18).

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for the grace that reached me when I could not save myself. Thank You for the gift of salvation in Christ Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith. Teach me to live with gratitude, recognizing that all I am and have comes from You. May my life reflect Your grace and bear witness to Your love. I pray in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
