Verse of the Day: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:42 KJV

Jesus calls His disciples to live in a state of spiritual watchfulness. This is not fear, anxiety, or speculation—it is attention, discernment, and faithfulness. The uncertainty of His return is not meant to trouble us but to motivate us to live with purpose, integrity, and daily devotion (1 Thessalonians 5:6).

To watch means keeping the heart awake—sensitive to the Spirit’s voice and free from the distractions that dull the soul. In a world full of noise, temptations, and busyness, Jesus invites us to focus on what is eternal. To live awake is to remember that every decision, every word, and every action is lived before the One who is coming soon (Revelation 22:12).

Watchfulness is also hope. The return of Christ is not a threat but a glorious promise. He is coming for His people, for those who have placed their trust in His work on the cross. Living awake means keeping our eyes on Jesus, persevering in love, holding fast to the faith, and being faithful with what He has entrusted to us (Hebrews 10:37).

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for the hope of the return of Your Son Jesus Christ. Keep my heart awake, steady, and focused on what is eternal. Free me from distraction and strengthen me to live faithfully each day. I pray in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
