Listening with the Heart
Jesus spoke these words after telling the parable of the sower. Everyone heard the same message, but the seed produced fruit only in the soil that received it. His call to hear goes beyond perceiving sounds; it invites us to pay attention, understand, and be willing to obey.

God’s Word may reach us while worry, hurry, distractions, or resistance keep it from taking root. A listening heart makes room for truth, allows it to correct us, and responds with faith. We are transformed not merely by hearing many words, but by receiving and living what Jesus says.
Pause and reflect
Read Mark 4:1–20 slowly today. Ask yourself: “What is Jesus showing me, and how is He asking me to respond?” Write down one truth and put it into practice before the day ends. Silence one distraction so that God’s Word has room to remain in you.
Today’s prayer
Abba Father, give me ears that truly listen and a heart ready to receive Your Word. Remove the distractions, fear, and resistance that keep Your truth from taking root in me. Help me understand what Jesus teaches and obey Him with humility and faith. May Your Word bear lasting fruit in my life. I ask this in the name of Your beloved Son, Jesus. Amen.
