The Spirit Who Gives Life
Paul reminds us that the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is not distant from those who belong to Christ: He lives within them. Therefore, the resurrection is more than an event from the past; it is the foundation of our hope and the assurance that sin, weakness, and death will not have the final word.
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:11, NIV
Paul reminds us that the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is not distant from those who belong to Christ: He lives within them. Therefore, the resurrection is more than an event from the past; it is the foundation of our hope and the assurance that sin, weakness, and death will not have the final word.
This promise does not mean that our bodies will never experience sickness, exhaustion, or aging. It ultimately points to the resurrection, while assuring us that God’s Spirit is already at work within us today. When our strength fails, we can depend on His presence to renew our hearts, guide our decisions, and help us live according to Christ.
Pause and reflect
Identify one area of your life where you feel tired, discouraged, or unable to move forward. Ask God, in the name of His Son Jesus, to renew your strength and fill you with His Holy Spirit. Then take one concrete step that reflects His life in you: reject a temptation, forgive someone, rest when necessary, serve with love, or speak words of hope.
Today’s prayer
Abba Father, thank You because the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in me. Bring life to every place in my heart weakened by fear, sin, exhaustion, or discouragement. Teach me not to depend only on my own strength, but to follow the guidance of Your Spirit. Renew my heart, sustain me in my weakness, and keep alive in me the hope of the resurrection. I ask this in the name of Your beloved Son, Jesus. Amen.
