Put It into Practice
The apostle Paul did not ask the believers in Philippi merely to remember his teachings. He encouraged them to turn what they had learned, heard, and observed into a way of life.
Practice everything you have learned, received, and heard from me, as well as what you have observed in my life; and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9, English rendering based on NVI
The apostle Paul did not ask the believers in Philippi merely to remember his teachings. He encouraged them to turn what they had learned, heard, and observed into a way of life.
Knowing God’s Word is essential, but transformation occurs when that truth reaches our decisions, words, relationships, and daily habits. Faith becomes visible when we forgive, serve, speak truthfully, control our reactions, and obey God even when doing so is difficult.
Paul also reminded them that the God of peace would be with them. This peace does not necessarily mean the absence of difficulties. It is the assurance of God’s presence as we walk in obedience to Christ.
Pause and reflect
Think of one teaching from God’s Word that you already know but have postponed putting into practice. Perhaps you need to forgive someone, speak with kindness, fulfill a responsibility, serve another person, or spend time in prayer. Choose one specific action and do it today. Do not wait until you feel completely ready; take the first step in obedience. Ask God, in the name of His Son Jesus, to remove from your heart everything that does not come from the fruit of the Holy Spirit, to fill you with His Holy Spirit, and to help you live according to what He has taught you.
Today’s prayer
Abba Father, thank You for Your Word and for everything You have taught me through Jesus. Forgive me for the times when I have known what is right but have failed to put it into practice. Give me a willing and obedient heart. Help me reflect the character of Christ through my decisions, words, and actions. Remove from my heart everything that does not come from the fruit of the Holy Spirit, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. May Your presence guide me, and may Your peace remain with me as I walk in obedience. I ask this in the name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
