Persevering in prayer
After describing the armor of God, the apostle Paul calls believers to remain in prayer. Praying in the Spirit means depending on His guidance and help as we bring our needs before God, seeking His will.
Pray in the Spirit at all times, with requests and pleas. Stay alert and persevere in prayer for all believers.” Ephesians 6:18 English rendering based on NVI
After describing the armor of God, the apostle Paul calls believers to remain in prayer. Praying in the Spirit means depending on His guidance and help as we bring our needs before God, seeking His will.
Prayer draws us into daily communion with our Father through Jesus Christ. We can turn to Him throughout the day, persevere when answers take time, and remember the needs of other believers. As we pray for one another, we express love and acknowledge our shared dependence on God.
Pause and reflect
Choose someone from your community of faith and pray specifically for their needs today. Set aside a moment to pray without distractions. Ask God, in the name of His Son Jesus, to remove from your heart everything that does not come from the fruit of the Holy Spirit, renew your strength, and fill you with His Holy Spirit.
Today’s prayer
Abba Father, thank You for listening when I pray. You are God. Thank You for choosing me and rescuing me through Your Son Jesus. Teach me to pray with perseverance, depend on Your Spirit, and seek Your will. Remove from my heart everything that does not come from the fruit of Your Holy Spirit. Renew my strength and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Keep me attentive to the needs of others, and strengthen those who are weary or facing difficulties. I ask this in the name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
