God’s Word prepares us to do good

The apostle Paul reminds Timothy that Scripture comes from God and prepares us to live according to His will. Through His Word, God teaches us the truth, reveals our errors, corrects our direction, and trains us to do what is right.

All Scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be fully equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16–17 English rendering based on NVI

The apostle Paul reminds Timothy that Scripture comes from God and prepares us to live according to His will. Through His Word, God teaches us the truth, reveals our errors, corrects our direction, and trains us to do what is right.

Receiving this instruction requires a humble and willing heart. As we read, we can ask what needs to change in our decisions, attitudes, and relationships. Scripture points us to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ and equips us to put that faith into practice through good works.

Pause and reflect

Read a short passage of Scripture today and identify one teaching you can apply. Take a concrete step of obedience. Ask God, in the name of His Son Jesus, to remove from your heart everything that does not come from the fruit of the Holy Spirit, renew your strength, and fill you with His Holy Spirit.

Today’s prayer

Abba Father, thank You for Your Word, which teaches and guides me. You are God. Thank You for choosing me and rescuing me through Your Son Jesus. Give me humility to receive Your correction and willingness to obey what You teach me. Remove from my heart everything that does not come from the fruit of Your Holy Spirit. Renew my strength and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Prepare me to do good and help me reflect Your truth through my daily actions. I ask this in the name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
