1 PETER 5:8 (NIV) “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
This verse reminds us of the spiritual reality we live in. The enemy of our souls is real and seeks to draw us away from the truth of Christ, using temptations, lies, and distractions. That is why Scripture exhorts us to remain alert and sober-minded, aware that our strength is not in ourselves, but in Christ Jesus, who defeated the evil one on the cross.
Jesus Himself warned us: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10, NIV). He is our victory, and in His name we can resist the attacks of the enemy. Being alert does not mean living in fear, but walking in the light of Christ, trusting His power to keep us firm in the faith.
By remaining in Christ, we find protection, purpose, and direction, facing the temptations and challenges of life with the assurance that God’s power is at work in our lives.
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You because in Jesus Christ I have victory over every attack of the enemy. Teach me to be alert and to remain firm in the faith, sober and confident in Your Word. May my life be guided by the light of Christ and not by fear, knowing that You sustain me at all times. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
