Verse of the Day: “The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.’” Luke 1:35 NIV

This angelic announcement to Mary reveals that salvation is not a human achievement but a divine initiative. The birth of Jesus did not occur by human will, but by the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit. God Himself intervened in history to fulfill His eternal plan of redemption. From beginning to end, salvation is God’s work—for His glory and for our rescue (Galatians 4:4–5).

“The power of the Most High will overshadow you” speaks of God’s holy and protective presence. Just as His glory overshadowed the tabernacle in the wilderness, now His power surrounds Mary to bring the Savior into the world. Jesus is not merely a great teacher or prophet; He is the Holy One born, the eternal Son of God made flesh, sinless and sent to reconcile us to the Father (John 1:14).

To be called “the Son of God” affirms His divine identity and authority. Jesus is fully God and fully man. In Him, heaven and earth meet—grace and truth, promise and fulfillment. His birth marks the visible beginning of the work that would be completed at the cross and confirmed in the resurrection. Everything begins here: God with us, working through the Spirit, to give us eternal life (Romans 1:3–4).

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for the miracle of the incarnation and for sending Your Son Jesus Christ into the world. Thank You for the work of the Holy Spirit that made our salvation possible. Help me live with reverence, faith, and gratitude before the glorious mystery of Christ, the Son of God. I pray in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
