Compassion for Those Who Doubt

Be merciful to those who doubt. Jude 1:22, NIV
Jude, who introduces himself as a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, wrote to protect believers from teachings that distorted the truth. Even in the middle of this serious warning, he instructed them to respond with mercy toward those whose faith was wavering.
Doubt does not always come from rebellion. It may arise from confusion, pain, disappointment, or questions that have not yet found an answer. God does not call us to ridicule, pressure, or reject those who doubt. He calls us to listen patiently, speak the truth with love, and help them look again toward Jesus. Compassion does not weaken the truth; it allows the truth to be shared with the character of Christ.
Pause and reflect
Think of someone who has expressed doubts about God or faith. Instead of trying to win an argument, listen carefully and ask what lies behind their questions. Share one biblical truth with humility and pray for that person by name. Ask God, in the name of His Son Jesus, to remove from your heart everything that does not come from the fruit of the Holy Spirit, fill you with His Holy Spirit, and help you respond with patience, wisdom, and compassion.
Today’s prayer
Abba Father, thank You for receiving me with mercy when my faith is weak and my understanding is limited. Give me a compassionate heart toward those who doubt. Help me listen without judging, speak Your truth without pride, and point others toward Jesus with patience and love. Remove from me everything that does not come from the fruit of Your Holy Spirit, and fill me with Your presence. I ask this in the name of Your beloved Son, Jesus. Amen.
