Verse of the day: “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.” (Proverbs 3:7, NIV).

This verse reminds us of the importance of relying on God’s wisdom rather than our own understanding. Often, we place too much trust in our opinions or abilities, but fearing the Lord—showing reverence, respect, and obedience—leads us down the right path.

Shunning evil is a natural result of fearing God. It means making choices that honor His will and turning away from anything that displeases Him. Acknowledging our need for His guidance protects us from pride and the mistakes that come from trusting solely in our limited human perspective.

Are you relying more on your own understanding than on God’s guidance? What steps can you take today to turn from evil and seek His wisdom?

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for Your perfect wisdom and for always being ready to guide me. Help me to rely on You more than on my own thoughts. Teach me to fear You, walk in humility, and turn away from evil in everything I do. I trust that Your ways are better than mine. Amen
