From Sorrow to Joy
Jesus spoke these words just hours before His arrest, during His farewell conversation with the disciples. He was telling them they would soon experience deep sorrow, while the world would rejoice in His apparent defeat.
“Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.”(John 16:20, NIV).

But that sorrow would not be final—it would be transformed into lasting joy. He was referring to His crucifixion: the disciples would weep at His death, but on the third day, their mourning would turn to joy when they saw Him risen. This promise wasn’t just for them—it’s for us too. The cross always precedes the resurrection; sorrow precedes glory.
The Christian life isn’t free of pain or loss, but in Christ, every sorrow has an expiration date. His resurrection power turns darkness into light and grief into true joy.

Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for giving me Your beloved only Son, Jesus, for my salvation. Give me discernment to see beyond present pain and trust in the joy that only You can give. I lift this prayer with thanksgiving and ask for Your help to wait in faith, knowing You will turn my sorrow into joy.
