This powerful statement from the apostle Paul is the conclusion of a teaching about the resurrection of the dead. It is not a human victory, nor is it achieved by our own efforts. It is the victory that God gives us through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Christ defeated sin and death through His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:54–55). And this is not only His victory—it is our inheritance in Him. We do not fight to win it; we live in it by faith (1 John 5:4).
The verse reminds us to live in gratitude, not in fear, knowing that we have already overcome in Christ. Our confidence is not in ourselves but in what God has done through His Son.
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for giving me victory through Jesus Christ. Thank You that I am no longer a slave to sin nor afraid of death. Help me to live with faith, gratitude, and boldness, knowing that in Christ I have eternal life and a secure victory. In the name of our Lord Jesus, Amen.
