Verse of the Day (NKJV): “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
This apostolic command is not merely a moral suggestion but a practical expression of Christ’s love in us. Bearing one another’s burdens does not mean condoning sin or interfering with God’s personal dealings with each believer. Rather, it means walking alongside the weak, the afflicted, and the struggling with compassion, prayer, and humble service.
The “law of Christ” mentioned here refers to the commandment of love (John 13:34), which calls us to selfless giving that mirrors the heart of our Savior: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13). Just as Jesus bore our burdens, guilt, and pain on the cross (Isaiah 53:4-5), we, as new creations in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17), are called to reflect His love by bearing one another’s burdens.
This practice does not save us or make us righteous (for we are justified only by grace through faith in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9)), but it does reveal the work of the Holy Spirit in us, producing fruit such as love, patience, and gentleness (Galatians 5:22-23), and enabling us to comfort others with the comfort we ourselves have received (2 Corinthians 1:4).
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for carrying the weight of my sin, guilt, and affliction on the cross. Help me walk in Your example, being attentive to the pain of others and willing to serve with humility. Teach me to love not just with words, but with actions that reflect Your grace. I want to fulfill Your law by walking in step with the Spirit, building up and encouraging my brothers and sisters in the faith. In the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
