Verse of the Day (NIV): “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:3‬

The apostle Paul, led by the Holy Spirit, urges us to reject selfish ambition and pride—the roots of conflict and division. Instead, we are called to live in genuine humility, which springs from recognizing who we are before God and how much we have received by His grace. True humility is not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less in order to love and serve others.

This command is given in the context of the ultimate example of Christ, who, being God, made Himself nothing and took the nature of a servant (Philippians 2:5–8). That same mindset is to be cultivated in our daily walk. The Christian life thrives in humility, where others are honored and the love of Christ is made visible.

When we value others above ourselves, we are not denying our own worth, but honoring Christ by reflecting His heart in our relationships. In doing so, we fulfill the law of Christ and bear witness to the transforming power of the Gospel (Galatians 6:2; John 13:35).

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for Your perfect example of humility and service. Forgive me for the times I act out of pride or seek recognition. Help me value others with the love You have shown me. May my life reflect Your character in everything I do. Abba Father, we offer this prayer in the Name of Your beloved Son, Jesus. Amen.
