Verse of the Day: “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Galatians 5:24 NIV

This verse summarizes a central truth of the Christian life: following Christ means breaking with the sinful nature. To “crucify the flesh” is not a physical act but a spiritual one—it means daily denying the desires that oppose God’s will and surrendering our lives completely to the Lord (Luke 9:23).

Belonging to Christ means belonging entirely to Him. The believer transformed by the Spirit no longer lives under the rule of passions but under the guidance of grace. The cross not only represents forgiveness but also victory over the old nature (Romans 6:6).

This truth calls us to live in freedom—not under the slavery of sin, but under the rule of the Holy Spirit. When we follow His guidance, the fruit of the Spirit replaces the works of the flesh: love instead of selfishness, peace instead of anger, and self-control instead of disorderly impulses (Galatians 5:22–23).

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You because in Christ You have given me a new nature. Help me live each day crucifying the flesh and surrendering my desires to Your will. May Your Spirit rule my thoughts, words, and actions so that I reflect the character of Jesus in everything I do. I pray in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
