The Love that Reflects Christ

Verse of the Day: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” 1 Corinthians 13:4 NIV

In this verse, the apostle Paul reveals the nature of true love—the same love God has shown in Christ. The love described here is not a fleeting emotion but a constant choice to act according to the character of Jesus: with patience, humility, and kindness (Ephesians 4:2).

Patience teaches us to endure without complaint, trusting God’s timing. Kindness is expressed through tangible acts of compassion and mercy. Humility protects us from vanity and pride, which destroy relationships. This love does not seek recognition but seeks to serve. It is the love that “is not self-seeking” and “always perseveres” (1 Corinthians 13:5,7).

To love in this way is impossible without the presence of the Holy Spirit. Only He can produce in us a love like Christ’s—a love that forgives, builds up, and remains even when others fail (Romans 5:5). When we allow this love to rule our hearts, we reflect God’s glory and bring His light to the world.

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for loving me with perfect and unchanging love. Teach me to love as Christ loved me—with patience, kindness, and humility. Remove all envy and pride from my heart, and let Your Spirit produce in me a genuine love that transforms my surroundings. I pray in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
