Verse of the Day: “We love him, because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 KJV

This verse is the heart of the gospel. Love does not originate in us; it originates in God. Before we could seek Him, He had already loved us. Before we could come near, He had already taken the first step. His love is not a response—it is divine initiative, grace poured out, and mercy reaching us even in our most fragile condition (Romans 5:8).

To love God is possible because He opened the way. His love awakened us, called us by name, forgave our sins, and brought us into the light. Every act of faith, every prayer, every desire to obey, every step toward Him is the result of that love that came first. He is the source, the origin, and the reason for our love (Ephesians 2:4–5).

This love transforms how we live. When we understand that we were loved first, we stop trying to earn God’s favor. We live grateful, confident, and resting in His grace. And the love we receive becomes love we extend: we forgive, serve, give, and love because Christ loved us first (John 13:34).

Today’s prayer

Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for the love that came first. Thank You for seeking me, calling me, and loving me even when I did not know You. Fill my heart with gratitude and make my life a response of love toward You and toward others. I pray in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
