This verse proclaims a powerful truth: the presence of the Spirit of the Lord brings freedom. In the context of Paul’s letter, he contrasts the old covenant, which brought condemnation, with the new covenant in Christ, which gives life through the Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:6).
The liberty spoken of here is not about doing whatever we please, but being set free from sin, fear, guilt, and anything that binds the soul. Where the Spirit dwells, there is transformation (2 Corinthians 3:18), renewal, and true life.
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your Spirit that brings me freedom. Help me to walk daily in that freedom with joy and responsibility. May I be transformed more into the image of Christ each day, guided by Your Holy Spirit. In the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
