The apostle Paul reminds us that the Christian life is not measured by empty words, but by love in action. To be kind and compassionate reflects the character of Christ in us. Forgiveness is not optional; it is the natural response of those who have received God’s forgiveness in Christ.
Jesus Himself taught us to pray: “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” (Matthew 6:12). He fulfilled this perfectly on the cross when He prayed for those crucifying Him: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). This is the model of forgiveness we are called to live— not based on what others deserve, but on the grace we have freely received from God.
As we remain in Christ, His love and mercy are displayed through us. Forgiveness opens the way to inner healing, restores relationships, and reminds us that we are co-heirs of grace. This is how we fulfill the law of Christ: to love as He has loved us.
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You because in Christ I have been completely forgiven. Teach me to live with a kind and compassionate heart, willing to forgive as I have been forgiven. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so I may reflect the character of Jesus in all my relationships. Abba Father, I bring this prayer in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
