This verse captures the words of the risen Jesus before His ascension. It is not merely an instruction but a divine command: to take the gospel to all nations. The church’s mission is not born from human desire but from God’s heart, who wants all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4).
Making disciples goes beyond teaching doctrine; it means guiding others to live as followers of Christ. Baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit seals faith in the Trinity and shows eternal fellowship with God. This is the believer’s identity: marked by the Father’s grace, the redeeming work of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:4–6).
Living in Christ compels us to obey this calling. The Great Commission also reminds us that we are not alone: Jesus promised to be with us “always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). Therefore, discipling, teaching, and baptizing are part of our life on mission, reflecting the glory of the One who saved us.
Today’s prayer
Prayer: Abba Father, thank You for sending us Your Son Jesus Christ, who gave us the mission to make disciples. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit to testify with boldness and love. Make me faithful to Your calling, living and sharing the gospel of Your Son everywhere. I present this prayer in the Name of Your beloved Son Jesus. Amen.
